To not put Aerosmith on that list is insane. They were the American Rolling Stones. And by the way, Pink Floyd was 100% British, as well as AC/DC is %100 Australian. The list says AMERICAN, not mixed nationalities mostly consisting of American names. The Rolling Stones were %100 British.

ok first some people might disagree with putting the peppers as 5 , i admit there might be better bands out there, but if theres one thing the peppers did was bring millions of teenagers into the rock culture, i myself got introduced after being invited to a concert and have been a steady rock fan since. also the beatles are the greatest rock band ever, even though i dont like them , they defined and shaped the genre of what we call rock now, there careers spanned decades and even now beetlemania is still going strong -

okay i looked at some of these lists and i lack to see many names such as Megadeth (which i would have to place at 11), Pantera, Black Sabbath, Rage Against the Machine, and Iron Maiden. I know that some of my music ive listed is more "metal" than rock.. but i felt like including them.. First of all, Weezer. They are a great upcoming band with alot of influence and talent.. they have already released hits like "Say it Ain't So" and "My Name is Jonas". Next, Coheed and Cambria.. I listened to the song "Welcome Home" and i said "there is no way they will ever match this great of a song!" then i heard "The Suffering" and i was shocked because they did it again.. this band is great. Third, where is Disturbed in these lists? they are great! same way with them, i heard "Down With the Sickness" and i was shaken and i didnt believe they could ever match that. Then they released their new album and i was just amazed.. They are reshaping what we know as metal as we speak..

Next we have Guns N' Roses.. they were no doubt a great band.. but truthfully, they only had that one good album. "Appetite for Destruction", and then they just went down hill.. Fifth, Metallica.. Metallica was great no doubt about that.. but it seemed to me that they just wrote songs and riffs.. to me they didnt really write meaningful music, it was just cool sounding.. they were great but i stand by putting them at fifth.. Next we have Pantera.. to me they were one of the most talented bands to ever be formed.. they wrote many great songs such as "Walk" and "Cowboys from Hell".. it was a tragic loss of one of the greatest guitarists ever, Dimebag Darrell.. Next is THE Black Sabbath.. this band had so much talent including Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass), and Bill Ward (drums). i was also very disappointed to see all this talent but then not really all that many great songs.. they were great until they lost Ozzy and picked up Ronnie James Dio.. after Dio joined the band i personally didnt like the music. but i am very excited about Bill Wards talk about a possible reunion with all of the original members..

Next is Rage Against the Machine.. Rage Against the Machine has basically made a new genre completely, taking a hip hop sound and putting it into their lyrics, and a metal sound and putting it into their instrumentals.. they have released many great songs including "Bulls on Parade", "Killing in the Name", and "Wake Up". this band reshaped the metal genre in their time before the loss of guitarist Tom Morello who went on to make the band Audioslave.. Next has to be one of my fave bands ever (mainly because of the fact that Flea is awesome and i play bass).. the Red Hot Chili Peppers.. i personally believe that the reason this band is so good is because of the funky bass sounds of Flea.. they have made many great songs like "Dani California", "Snow ((Hey Oh))", and "Suck My Kiss".. also the fact of the explicit material in their music has appealed to many.. this band is great and even now they are going strong..

And finally.. my number one band is IRON MAIDEN! this band is maybe the most talented, influential, and intelligent bands ever.. the band includes Bruce Dickinson (vocals), Dave Murray (guitar), Adrian Smith (guitar), Nicko McBrain (drums), Janick Jers (guitar), and THE Steve Harris (bass).. Steve Harris (songwriter) formed the band and to me was the one who made them so incredible.. he was known for his intelligent lyrics and his catchy "galloping tripelet beats".. they made many famous songs including "Number of the Beast", "Run to the Hills", and "The Trooper". but their most famous band member didnt even play an instrument! his name is Eddie! if you are a Maiden fan then you have seen Eddie.. he is the skeleton portrayed in all the concerts and on all the album covers and tshirts and posters and etc.. he represented the band and made them famous.. well thanks for reading i hope you enjoyed my post! please comment!

ok first why are you saying led zeppelin when their from england also rolling stones, deep purple, pink floyd and the beatles? and the scorpions are from germany. i though this is the greatest American rock bands. any way i think that greatest and most influential AMERICAN bands are CCR, The Doors, The Eagles, Crosby Stills and Nash, Kiss (i dont like them but they were popular), Aerosmith, Santana, Van halen, Metallica, Nirvana, Pearl Jam. (only my opinion)

Well the facts at the facts – of all the American rock groups none have influenced more and sold more than Kiss. Remember a few years back when Kiss and Aerosmith toured for about 4 months? ALL of the reviews exclaimed Kiss to be THE superior band. Fans were literally falling asleep during Aerosmith! Van Halen wouldnt even be here if it was for Kiss. KIss has sold over 85 million records, more than any other American band. So the number one American band has to be Kiss – like them or not.

Ramones in top 5 –they were original US punk rock band, more famous dead than alive.No arguments with Van Halen/Hagar, Gn'R, Green Day, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, Journey. I hate the Dead yet they belong in the top 10 just for their historical influence (taping and black market of music from live shows).
