Singer/songwriter Joshua Radin’s album was released this month by Columbia Records. What’s interesting, is, the album was recorded entirely in his bedroom. It kind of reminds me of Sufjan Stevens and Nick Drake. He talks about how his hushed singing style resulted out of necessity:
“I had this neighbor in New York who would bang on the wall and threaten to call the cops if we made any noise at all. She was brutal!”
So, it’s cool that a bedroom-recorded album has make it as far as it has. It certainly didn’t hurt that he’s good buddies with Cary Brothers (singer/songwriter with music in "Garden State"), and Zach Braff (star of the TV show “Scrubs,” and writer/director/star of “Garden State.”), which helped him get music into a variety of soundtracks.
That said, however, I really like his stuff. Check out the full story here, or some of his music at his website.
