Well, I have been following your blog for a week now and I have to say I’ve enjoyed seeing more pictures arrive and more articles, especially the one that mentions my name, which is Orchard. And for someone who wants to make music but just doesn’t know how, this blog is really helping me to know what to do. Because if a blog friend can’t rely on another blog friend to help her out when she doesn’t know how to record music, then it’s like I always say, “Who can?”

Well, thanks for your comments, Orchard. What you describe is exactly what I aspire to do — communicate with a community of indie musicians and song writers interested in recording and promoting their music. We all face the same issues and challenges. I hope this site will both give us a place to voice our ideas, as well as learn something new about the industry and the practice of rocking. Welcome to GarageSpin!

Hey Mike,
Just wanted to give you a shout out for leading by example. I can appreciate better your music performances now that I’m seeing just the tip of the creative, analytical iceberg behind them. Keep up the good work.

Mike,
My best buddy Schatz Matt told me about your site. I’ve been a home recorder since I was 14. Started on a Yahama 4-track cassette recorder, then to a Tascam 4-track, made the leap to the digital realm with a Roland VS-840 and finally making the leap to a computer based system last year with Digidesign’s Pro Tools LE. You can listen to my recordings at the above site.
Will you post any of your music? I’d love to hear some of your songs.
Good luck with the site!
MarcPS Your wife did a great job proof reading my personal statement for graduate school.

Thanks for your comments!
M2: I’m glad you’re enjoying the site. And thanks for checking out my shows in the past!
Marc: I started on a Tascam 4-track as well, and have been hooked ever since. The digital realm is a huge step up, however. Where would we be without automation, punch recording, and effects? Definitely hooked. I’ve used Mac Pro Tools and loved it – enjoy!
I’ll check out your tracks today (I believe my wife was playing one not too long ago). I’m hoping to post some music once it’s finished. Unfortunately, I move slowly, and am currently having some basement resonance issues in my recording space. But I’m definitely closer.
Thanks for checking out the site. If you ever have a few words, news, or thoughts you’d like to contribute, don’t hesitate to drop me a line!
Cheers,
Mike
