My M-Audio BX5a Monitor Speaker Issues

So, I’ve been tweaking my first home studio project lately, getting closer to a final run.  I’m still unhappy with the mix, but it’s time to move on to another project…that’s another matter.

What’s annoying me right now is that I only just realized my left M-Audio BX5a monitor, which I recently purchased, is screwed up.    I’m not sure how I missed this before…I guess I never compared both monitors…but the left one is producing distorted sound that’s lacking of bass and mid range.  It’s really obvious if you play a single sound through one speaker at a time, and compare.

It’s probably too late to return the speakers, and of course, the irony of it all is that monitors are used for the purpose of listening to a sonically accurate version of your music, as opposed to, say, headphones.

On a positive note, I now have something to blame my music’s sucking on.

make sure to ck your cables. could always be that… then ck your amp, then your mixer. try plugging the bum spkr into opposite side of amp (unless they’re self-powered), opposite side of board, opposite cable, etc.
